Studio Sampler Summer Clay Camp #2: June 30-July 3

Campers will continue to develop beginning-level skills and techniques in all of our studio art forms, including the wheel, fused glass, mosaics, sculpting and sgraffito, creating art with each medium, and then selecting an art form to spend each day working in. Completion of Studio Sampler Week 1 or a prior Terracotta Camp is strongly encouraged. 

Projects include:

• A  wheel-thrown mug or bowl (or two)
• A Custom fused glass heart pendant
• A Custom mosaic trivet or wall art
• A pinch-pot piggy bank

Day One: During the first day of camp, our tweens will continue to develop their  pottery skills and how to use even more of our tools, equipment and share a community creative space. They will start mug-making and handle-pulling using a clay extruder. 

Day Two: Students will resume their ceramic work, paying special attention to details and texture of their mugs. They will examine example pottery for why it did or did not turn out, and work to apply that insight to their own works as they begin on their piggy banks.

Day Three: Students are encouraged to explore our other studio art forms, including mosaics, fused glass, linocut and water color painting.  Paintings are ready to go home the same day, and glass creations are fired overnight and ready to go home on Day 4.

Day Four: Students are encouraged to create what inspires them, using the skills they’ve developed over the previous weeks, and selecting which art form they would like to spend their last day with. Options include the wheel, fused glass, mosaics and sculpting.

Students will spend time inspecting their own work and finishing details of their creations.

Prices include all instruction, clay, tools, kiln firing, and dip-glaze for the mugs.

Camps occur Tuesday- Friday. Ages 8+ please.
