Ever wonder how to craft beautiful night lights, wind chimes and magnets from melted glass? In this day camp, artists of all abilities will learn beginner-friendly strategies and create their interactive glass art to take home the same week.

All supplies, safety equipment, tools and firing are provided.

        Projects include:

        • A wind chime from up-cycled glass bottles
        • A one-of-a-kind working night light
        • A slumped glass magnet
        • A set of unique glass mosaic coasters

        Camp Schedule:

Day One: During the first day of camp, our artists will develop their glass skills and practice how to safely use our tools and share a community creative space. They will start creating an original slumped-bottle wind-chime, selecting and shaping glass pieces to slump into chimes, and place them in the kiln to be fired over night.

Day Two: Students will open the (cool) kiln after firing over night and resume their glass work, paying special attention to how their creations changed in the kiln and what they learned in that process. Artists will then be supported as they iterate on their creations by fusing and shaping an original and functional night light out of glass.

Day Three: Students will assemble their night lights to take home on this day, and string together their wind chimes with fused glass, beads, prisms and other charms. Students will examine and critically listen to their creations to determine if there are any changes they would like to make. If so, they have the opportunity to add and subtract glass, prism and beads to achieve a sound they like.

Once settled with the wind chime, students will have the opportunity to create a slump-glass magnet in the shape of a tropical fish, flower, or other 2" by 2" image. The magnet will be fired overnight to go home on Day 4.

Day Four: Students are encouraged to apply what they've learned and practiced all week with shaping and handling glass to create a set glass mosaic coasters. Students can create up to four coasters. Coasters can be taken home that day, and used the next day.

Prices include all instruction, materials and firing. All projects are ready to go home the same week.
