Five days. No Wi-Fi. Two ancient art forms. One Hawaiian artist retreat that will ruin you for normal vacations forever.

You already know about clay. You know the wheel, the pinch pot, the deeply satisfying thwack of centering. But have you ever held a piece of colored glass up to the Hawaiian sun and watched it catch fire? Because that's what's waiting for you on Day 3, and we promise you will not be the same person afterward.

This is Terracotta's 5-Day Off-Grid Artist Retreat — a full immersion into two of the most meditative, tactile, and quietly life-changing art forms there are. Pottery in the morning. Stained glass in the afternoon. Meals made from ingredients that were growing nearby that morning. And enough silence and beauty to remind you why you started making things in the first place.

Retreat Dates:

May 13-17, 2027

🌺 What to expect:

Day 1 — Arrive & Settle In
Leave your inbox at the airport where it belongs. Settle into the off-grid studio, meet your fellow artists, and get your hands into clay for the first time with a gentle intro to hand-building. No pressure, no expectations — just presence, fresh fruits and fish, and a sky full of stars after dinner.

Day 2 — Clay Day
Morning wheel session or hand-building — your choice, your pace. Afternoon open studio time to experiment, find your voice, and make whatever the island is whispering to you. (It's probably a turtle-inspired bowl. The island loves a bowl.) Evening: sunset and good conversation.

Day 3 — Glass Day
Put down the clay and pick up something that glows. Your introduction to stained glass starts here — cutting, shaping, and assembling colored glass into a piece that is entirely, unmistakably yours. Hold it up to the light. Watch the room change. Try not to immediately want to do it again. (You will want to do it again.)

Day 4 — Fire & Finish
Glaze your pottery, assemble your final glass panels, and prep everything for firing and leading. This is the day the magic becomes permanent. Afternoon: free time — hike, swim, nap in a hammock, or hover anxiously near the kiln. We understand. Both are valid.

Day 5 — Reveal & Celebrate
The kiln opens. The light comes through the glass. The closing circle happens. The meal is worth every mile of travel. You'll leave with a collection of pottery, a piece of stained glass, new skills in two crafts, and approximately zero desire to go back to your normal life. Safe travels. We'll miss you immediately.

All skill levels welcome in both crafts. You do not need to have touched clay or glass before. You just need curiosity, a willingness to get a little dirty, and the good sense to book before someone else takes your spot. Maximum 8 participants — small by design, intimate by nature.

These retreats will fill. If you've been waiting for a reason to book a flight to Hawaii and come home having made something beautiful with your hands — this is it. 🌊🏺✨
